Book Review – And Maybe They Fall in Love

This was a sweet college romance with strong mental health representation and a dash of the fantastical. Both Elle and Christopher were easy to root for as they navigated the very beginnings of adulthood and navigated both family complications and their own challenges. I especially enjoyed the speculative concept of “Readers” and the extra dimension it brought to their story. Recommended for readers looking for a sweet romance with an almost cozy feel and a uniquely paranormal world element!

A sweet college romance with strong mental health rep!

Audiobook Review – The Dragon Shifter’s Mates

So I picked this at random from Audible as a complete series before a marathon of roadtrips. If they hadn’t been linked together, I don’t think I would’ve gone beyond book one, but I will say I was entertained on the drive. But please keep in mind, I’d never actually read a reverse harem before this, but I can now say that it’s not really for me. And honestly, I think I realized I’m not a shifter person either, so very obviously, I probably shouldn’t have picked this one up. That said! I liked all the characters individually, and I found the writing, narration, and plot super easy to follow. And though I found the spicy scenes somewhat repetitive, if you love shifter romances and reverse harem, I think you’ll enjoy this series.

This book was written for a very specific reader, I think. It was not for me, but it could be for you!

Audiobook Review – A Touch of Darkness (Hades & Persephone)

This was another audiobook I picked up from Libby on a road trip. And I actually thought I was going to DNF it at 40% (I legit returned it.) but then I ended up checking it out again because I didn’t feel like looking for another book to read. Buttttt I probably should’ve. Though the world was interesting, I found Persephone’s character grating. And while I enjoyed her character growth, I wasn’t super into the relationship between she and Hades.

Trust your gut feelings, friends. If you’re thinking about DNF-ing, then DNF and find a book more suited to you

Audiobook Review – Zodiac Academy The Awakening

This was another one that I picked up at random from Libby on a road trip. It was my first “Graphic Audio” audiobook and honestly the production quality FLOORED me. With a full cast and sound effects, it really was like watching a movie in my head.

But the story… um. It was like Harry Potter, but with brutal fae who only respond to power & taking what they want, with a really unhealthy frat culture, twisted bullying, and two girls who (knowingly) make very awful decisions about trusting the people who are legit torturing them because they’re super hot.

So this one wasn’t for me, but I’ll *definitely* be picking up more audiobooks by Graphic Audio.

Big mixed feelings on this story, but Graphic Audio was definitely cool.

Book Review – Split Therapy

So I started reading Split Therapy by EP Stavs after my last two book had endings that kind of left me unsatisfied, and I was a little worried about an impending reading slump. But this book was such a breath of fresh air!

I really enjoyed EP Stavs’ Shendri Series, so when I saw the chance to get an ARC of her thriller novella, I just couldn’t help myself! Split Therapy follows sweet college student Jane as she tries to carry on with life after a traumatic incident. Meanwhile, her vigilante alter ego, Jae, roams the night finding a different way to come to terms with the incident.

First of all, I just love EP Stavs’ writing style. It is sharp and snappy but still paints the clearest picture of the action. Her banter is always on point, and she always manages to paint the most loveable characters that are so easy to connect with. I read this book in one enjoyable evening, totally drinking in the building tension and the sweet love interest, and I put it down feeling ready for another!

I totally recommend to anyone looking for a fun thriller to get lost in (that doesn’t mind adult themes and language) and can’t wait to see what Stavs writes next! Thanks so much to EP Stavs for the ARC; Split Therapy comes out on 4 Nov!
